Elected & Moving Up . . . Society of Satellite Professionals International

Wegener Corporation [Nasdaq: WGNR], a provider of equipment for television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, today announced that Kamy Merithew, Vice President of Marketing for WEGENER®, has been elected President of the 2009 Board of Directors for the Society of Satellite Professionals International Southeast Chapter (SSPI-SE).

With four chapters in North America and other chapters around the world, the SSPI is a nonprofit organization that provides education, networking, and other professional development to more than 3,000 members of the satellite industry. The new SSPI-SE Board of Directors includes representatives from a wide range of content providers, service providers, and manufacturers. Merithew had previously served as Executive Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer for the SSPI-SE, and was actively involved in the launch of the chapter in 2006.

“Just as she demonstrates at WEGENER, Kamy is a thoughtful and conscientious executive with a background of proven leadership ability,” said Dick Tauber, SSPI-SE President Emeritus. “Her intelligence and insights regarding SSPI and the Southeast Chapter’s mission make her the right person to assume the organizations key leadership role at this time.”

“SSPI is a well established organization for our industry, and we are working to strengthen our still relatively young Southeast Chapter,” said Merithew. “Over the next year, we are focusing on growing our membership by providing quality, diverse events to our members as well as continuing to establish our scholarship program to develop the next generation of leaders for the satellite industry.”

Based in Atlanta, the SSPI-SE has more than 400 members across eight states. Atlanta is a hub for the satellite industry, home to several cable channels as well as satellite communication product and service providers.
