Gilat Satcom... Melding In Fiber In Mozambique (Comms)

[SatNews] Gilat Satcom has entered into an agreement with a leading...

...pan-African Internet service provider and mobile WiMAX carrier. The companies will deliver broadband services throughout Mozambique. In addition to its pan-Africa satellite footprint that reaches even the most remote areas of the continent, Gilat Satcom is now extending its connectivity services to high-capacity fiber optics, a future growth engine for the company.

From the many landing ports of the EASSy cable, Gilat Satcom is bringing high-capacity and high-speed fiber into the interior of many countries. The agreement calls for Gilat Satcom to provide two STM-1s of bandwidth in order to deliver IP transit to Mozambique from London, connecting the country to Tier 1 ISPs. Internet transit is the service of allowing network traffic to cross a computer network and is used to connect a smaller Internet service provider (ISP) to the larger Internet. Gilat Satcom will extend the bandwidth throughout Mozambique via the WiMAX network to government offices, businesses and individuals.
