Thuraya has announced the signing of a key distribution agreement with European telecommunications specialists, Tetra Communications. The Athens-based distributor holds strong relationships with leading government and military organizations in Greece. Under this agreement, Tetra Communications will market Thuraya’s voice and broadband data services in Greece and surrounding NATO countries. Thuraya IP is the world’s smallest satellite broadband solution, making it suitable for government and military units. It is the size of a notebook, making it highly portable. An easily deployable plug and play system that requires no additional software, it supports data speeds of 384Kbps streaming IP and 444 Kbps StandardIP. The Thuraya XT is splash water resistant and shockproof meeting IP54 and IK03 standards. It is the only satellite handheld to have GPS way-finding functionality and reliable “walk-and-talk” capability making it highly suitable for military and government operatives deployed in the field.
