Astrium + ESA—A Trio Set To Swarm (Satellites)

[SatNews] The three Swarm satellites, manufactured by Astrium, are pictured below at the Plesetsk launch site ready for launch on November 14th.

The Swarm satellites... a work in progress.

The European Space Agency's Swarm satellites will undertake the best ever survey of the Earth’s geomagnetic field and give the first global representation of the field as it changes over time. It will measure the magnetic field around the Earth, and its sources within the planet.

Swarm will enable: More precise navigation, exploration and access to Earth’s resources, better prediction of space weather and warning of solar radiation flares. The satellite platforms were manufactured in Stevenage and including a novel, non-magnetic, carbon fibre structure and boom.
