SCADA VSATS Reach 10,000 For Stratos

Stratos Global Corp. has reached a milestone of 10,000 active supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) VSAT sites. The sites primarily support the upstream oil & gas, utility, water-management and tower-monitoring markets nationwide.

Introduced in January, DataSat II is Stratos' most recent application-centric SCADA VSAT solution. Based on Gilat's high-performance SkyEdge VSAT platform, it offers TCP acceleration, VPN, QoS, high inbound data rates, improved access scheme and modulations to maximize the performance of IP or serial-based SCADA, remote monitoring, and intranet applications. It also is positioned to support VoIP applications. DataSat II from Stratos supports applications for data collection and monitoring of remote assets — including utility substations and oil or gas pipelines. Stratos also offers enhanced IP or serial polling and 24x7 network monitoring from its Denver Network Operations Center (NOC). The NOC is staffed with trained, SCADA-network experienced operators who ensure the highest possible network availability and provide specific insight for SCADA applications.
