[SatNews] In the first three months after launching its FleetBroadband Distribution Partner services, Globe Wireless is proud to announce that it has received orders for more than 1,100 FleetBroadband solution installations.
"We have focused on providing our customers with a total solution, where the terminal forms
only a small part of the complete package," Frank J, Coles, President & CEO of Globe
Wireless, said. “The success of our complete solution for a customer is based on a
highly functional and configurable, secure, cost controlled, effective network infrastructure.
Without these elements, the terminal itself is frankly almost useless." Some of the Globe Wireless orders have not involved terminal orders, where the customer has selected to buy their own hardware. Of the Globe Wireless supplied orders, almost all were supplied with Addvalue and Satlink equipment. "Inmarsat has always maintained a high degree of control and quality over the units used on its network. Therefore, there is little to choose between the manufacturers, and price then becomes the issue. The hardware is almost a commodity at this stage." Frank J. Coles added. “We are entering a new phase of maritime communications, where a single airtime or hardware focus will not fit the needs of the customer. The tide is turning and we are preparing some significant news about this new phase where we are going to reinvent maritime communications solutions."
