Qual-Pro Protégé Picked For DoD's Nunn-Perry Award

DoD's Mentor Protege award The California Space Authority (CSA) congratulates Qual-Pro on being awarded the 2009 Department of Defense (DOD) Nunn-Perry Award for their exceptional growth and technological expansion under the Department of Defense Mentor-Protégé Program (MPP).

Qual-Pro formed a Mentor-Protégé relationship with Northrop Grumman Corporation Space Technology Sector (NGST) in 2006. In its first year in the program, Qual-Pro secured dozens of new contracts totaling several million dollars.  Qual-Pro is a preferred sub-contractor for a number of prime contractors to the DoD, including Boeing, L3 Communications, Northrop Grumman, and Raytheon.  As part of the Mentor-Protégé relationship with NGST, Qual-Pro developed expertise in complex electronics assembly operations including RF cable assembly.  To meet client needs, Qual-Pro increased its employee base by 75 percent and increased its manufacturing space 300 percent over the same time period. This award, named in recognition of former Senator Sam Nunn and former Secretary of Defense William Perry, recognizes superior performance by teams formed and approved under the DOD’s Mentor-Protégé program, which assists small businesses (Protégés) to successfully compete for prime contract and subcontract awards by partnering with large companies (Mentors) under individual, project-based Agreements.
