Thales Alenia Space Is Certifiably Certified

Thales Alenia Space has announced all 11 of the Company's industrial sites, in France, Italy, Belgium and Spain, have been certified to CMMI® (Capability Maturity Model Integration) Level 3, the international standard that recognizes the performance and maturity of industrial organizations — Thales Alenia Space is the first satellite manufacturer in Europe to earn this accreditation.

At the same time, Thales Alenia Space was certified to ISO 9001 (new 2008 version), EN 9100 (specific to the Aerospace sector) and AQAP 2110 (NATO). In a world first for the industry, these certifications were based on a combined audit and also apply to all of the company's sites. As part of this combined audit, four industrial sites: Toulouse, L’Aquila, Charleroi, and Madrid, were also certified to ISO 14001 for their environmental managements. Less than nine months have elapsed between the initial decision to start the certification process and this achievement. The company's plants in Cannes, Rome, Turin ,and Milan should receive ISO 14001 certification in 2009.
