ORBIT Technologies... ORION Heads Into Civil Aviation (Comms)


[SatNews] ORBIT Technologies Ltd. (TASE: ORBI), a provider of mission-critical connectivity solutions to the satellite communications, Earth Observation, telemetry and communications management systems markets, has received an order for the supply of ORION-based Communications Management Systems (CMS) to a major European aircraft manufacturer. The initial value of this deal exceeds US $3 million and, as the scope and value of systems to be supplied expands, as per expectations by the manufacturer to hundreds of aircraft, the contract's future value could reach as much as US $14 million.

ORION is ORBIT's new management platform for internal aircraft communications. Based on a distributed IP communication network and ready to operate in an AFDX (Avionics Full-Duplex Switched Ethernet)environment, it is a highly flexible system compatible with various aircraft types. The platform has particularly small dimensions, high redundancy and configurability in accordance with customer requirements and its flexibility meets the needs of additional segments within the aviation market.

Ofer Greenberger, CEO of ORBIT, stated: “We are excited to receive our first order for a system based on ORBIT’s innovative ORION platform, the most advanced CMS platform of its kind. Beyond the order itself, this deal marks an important milestone in our market expansion strategy with our initial penetration into the strategic passenger aircraft market. Through this agreement, the served market for ORBIT’s communications management systems has grown four-fold to over $100 million, and now includes the civil aviation segment."
