Exemplary Work By Lockheed Martin Rewarded

Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] received the Space Flight Awareness Supplier Award last week from United Space Alliance, NASA’s prime contractor for the Space Shuttle Program.

The award honored Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control business unit for delivering exemplary quality and ensuring flight safety. Howard DeCastro, Space Shuttle program manager for United Space Alliance, presented the award to Glenn Miller, vice president for Technical Operations & Applied Research at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, during a ceremony at the company’s Dallas facility. The annual Space Flight Awareness Supplier Award honors outstanding performance by hardware, software, or service suppliers who support NASA human space flight programs. As regular Space Shuttle missions grew in complexity and the International Space Station became a reality, the Space Flight Awareness Program evolved into one of the single most successful quality initiatives within all federal and contractor departments and agencies. Awardees are selected based upon their production of high-quality products, excellent technical and cost performance, and adherence to schedules. Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control produces key systems for the Space Shuttle orbiter and the International Space Station.
