[SatNews] Advantech Wireless, a Quebec-based manufacturer of satellite communications systems, has successfully completed delivery a DVB-RCS MiniHub(tm) for NewCom International of Miami.
To meet NewCom’s demand for broadband services in Latin America, they selected Advantech Wireless’ DVB-RCS MiniHub™ for its optimized performance. The order also includes Training, Maintenance, and Support Services. The hub is installed at NewCom’s teleport facilities in Miami, Fl. The MiniHub is supplied with the complete suite of available advanced features such as TCP Acceleration, DVB-S2 ACM operation and Advantech Wireless’ Optimized QoS capability to allow maximum bandwidth efficiency even in ACM mode of operation. Also included is Advantech’s Connection Control Protocol (CCP) which has been designed for the most efficient handling of VoIP calls. Satellite bandwidth is assigned dynamically for the duration of a voice call relinquishing the necessity of dedicating pre-assigned bandwidth for voice calls. The Hub inbound carriers are handled by Advantech Wireless’ renowned single card MultiCarrier Demodulator (MCD) which supports up to 96 simultaneous carriers with varying symbol rates. NewCom International President Jaime Dickinson, the World Teleport Association’s 2010 Teleport Executive of the Year, says it is the complete package Advantech Wireless offers that convinced his company to select the DVB-RCS MiniHub™.
