Block-Up Converter (BUC) Ka-band shown here is compact in design. Agilis C-, Ku- and X-Band Block-Up Converters, are configured in low or intermediate data rate for MCPC (Multi-Carrier Per Channel), DAMA (Demand Assigned Multiple Access) or TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access.)
The Agilis compact series of BUCs offers excellent power usage efficiency catering to a wide temperature range. The BUCs are complete with advanced monitor and control and with Bluetooth and WIFI capabilities, are suited for both mobile and uplink applications. Installation is easy as the Agilis BUCs Compact Series can be mounted directly onto the antenna feedhorn, thereby reducing power loss and eliminating the need for interconnecting cables. This also greatly reduces the complexity and cost of installation tremendously, resulting in large cost savings for both system integrators and end users.
In addition, this latest series of Compact BUCs is equipped with additional features such as Integrated Transceiver, Fibre Optic Transceiver and Continuous Wave Injector. The easy installation makes it highly attractive to users as a complete solution as additional cables for the transceivers and injectors are not required.
This new generation of BUC products include the compact 400W C-Band BUC, 4W/20W X-Band BUC, 20W/40W Ka-Band BUC and 8W/16W Ku-Band BUC. The Agilis state-of-the-art VSAT equipment serves a gamut of bands – L, C, Ku, X and Ka, and from very low power palm-sized BUCs to very high powers of up to 1,000W. This range also includes ruggedised BUCs which are suited for applications in harsh environments.

Agilis Parabolic VSAT Manpack
The Agilis Parabolic VSAT Manpack operates in Ku-Band (13.75 GHz to 14.5GHz). Measuring just 560mm (L) x 275mm (W) x 200mm (H), and weighing only 12kg, it is the smallest and lightest in the market today. It delivers a high performance standard and can be quickly deployed in less than 10 minutes. The Agilis Parabolic VSAT Manpack features a GPS system that helps avoid the need to reconfigure the modem should there be a need redeploy to a new location. An intelligent GUI interface provides realtime feedback of the antenna look-angle through any wireless device, allowing even non-technical personnel to perform antenna alignments easily.
The Mobile Earth Station (MES) combines the power of a high-quality satellite communications system with the mobility of a durable trailer to provide reliable field communications. Easily transported and highly mobile, the system also complies with commercial land, air and sea transport specifications and restrictions, making it safe and easy to transport by any mode for deployment and efficient commercial operations. The MES is attached to a mobile trailer with interconnecting brakes and is fastened by electrical lines to a tow vehicle.

Mobile Earth Station (MES)
The 20-foot removable platform housing the customised shelter, a 15kVA generator and a 3.9m Ku-Band tri-fold antenna, connects and locks easily to the trailer using twist locks that meet international ISO standards. Each system comes complete with customized air-conditioned enclosures to provide cooling for the equipment and offers a comfortable environment for operators to work in.
The Integrated Network Management System (INMS) is a complete and reliable web-based application that enables remote monitoring and management network with ease at any location at any time. Experts could provide effective support to Network Operations from anywhere in the world without the need to be permanently stationed at the Network Operations Centre (NOC).
The Intelligent Alarm Filtering capability of the INMS carries out root cause analysis on alarms and displays only the relevant information to users. This avoids information overload and ensures that only alarms that require the operators’ attention are displayed on the user interface. With all the network information displayed in a very intuitive manner, network operations can be run more productively and cost-effectively. INMS supports both Desktop and Browser-based user interfaces, as well as smartphones and tablets. This gives maximum flexibility to monitor your network conveniently. The Smart Client Interface is elegantly designed to use less bandwidth and provide a better user experience.
As more people gravitate towards cities, these growing nuclei need to assess their plans to support growing populations. Factors such as safety, security and sustainability, will become paramount as cities continue to stay globally connected.
As a result of rapid worldwide urbanisation, safety and security and sustainability have become major priorities for cities as they cope with rapid growth in population, traffic congestions and resource management. ST Electronics has a comprehensive suite of solutions to help various agencies deal with these challenges through innovative engineering and ICT applications. The company will feature some of these key solutions and products at CommunicAsia2013.

Comprehensive Maritime Awareness Solution for Managing the Maritime Space (CMAS)
To help build safe and secure cities, ST Electronics presents their Safe City Command and Control Solution, Comprehensive Maritime Awareness Solution and advanced Electro-Optics sensing systems. ST Electronics’ Smart Utilities and Smart Lighting & Intelligent Communications & Control System (SLIC2) Systems also offer better sustainability for future cities, as these will help cities monitor and optimise the production and consumption of energy and other essential utilities with minimal environmental impact. In addition, the Intelligent Airport and Metropolitan Traffic Control Centre solutions will enable cities to plan and manage large numbers of commuters and vehicles. The Maintenance Management System from ST Electronics will enable cities to manage and maintain their complex transportation systems.
Data security is becoming a matter of concern for many enterprises with the proliferation of various mobile devices. ST Electronics’ EASE (Enterprise Access for Secure Exchange) Solution offers a secure platform so that an enterprise’s mobile workforce can access and exchange information securely.
