...Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) at the BroadcastPro Middle East 2012 Awards event held in Dubai on November 12th. Thuraya was given the award for supporting journalism on-the-move and providing connectivity to those who are putting their lives on the line to report on important events across the region. BroadcastPro Middle East noted the significant contribution of Thuraya’s flagship product for reporters in the field, the Thuraya IP, which is an ultra-portable broadband terminal allowing broadcasters to link up to their studios across Thuraya’s congestion-free satellite network using convenient uplink/downlink streaming speed packages.


Thuraya’s Vice President of Marketing, Mr. T. Sanford Jewett with ARABSAT President & CEO and Vice Chairman of Thuraya’s Board of Directors, Mr. Khalid Ahmed Balkheyour and YahLive CEO, Mr. Mohammed Yousef at the ASBU BroadcastPro Middle East Award Ceremony.

Thuraya’s Vice President of Marketing, Mr. Sanford Jewett, participated in the ceremony and accepted the award on behalf of the Company. Mr. Jewett said, “On behalf of our organization and staff, we are truly honored to receive this recognition for our work in the media and broadcast sector. In recent years, we have seen the face of journalism dramatically change and in response, Thuraya has developed a portfolio of mobile satellite products and solutions including our Thuraya IP terminal which enables reliable and secure communications for reporters to broadcast the news from remote areas and conflict zones.”

The theme behind this year’s awards was to recognize and encourage innovation and excellence in the area of broadcast technology. Thuraya IP was singled out as an innovative broadcast product for its contribution in helping leading media organizations to broadcast the news to their studios from the field. Thuraya’s satellite footprint covers 140 countries where it provides critical data and voice communications for media organizations.
