Harris Has The Army Manpack Radio Deal


Harris Falcon III website The U.S. Army has selected Harris Corp. to deliver its Falcon manpack radio technology to address tactical radio requirements of military units. Under the $419 million deal, Harris will deliver its Falcon III AN/PRC-117G multiband tactical manpack radios. The order, which also includes vehicular power-amplifier adapter technology, is part of an effort by the U.S. Army to provide soldiers deployed around the world with tactical satellite and voice-and-data communications capabilities.

"We are pleased to continue providing the Army with our most advanced tactical manpack radio," Dana Mehnert, Harris RF Communications group president, said in a statement. "The AN/PRC-117G has comprehensive multi-mission capabilities to address the full spectrum of the Army's current tactical communications requirements. This radio is upgradeable to meet future joint tactical radio system requirements such as the Mobile User Objective System for satellite communications."
