SatBroadcasting: Harris Trucks Out Broadcast Betterments


Harris X50 frame sync + converter Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) has announced Metrovision Production Group selected the latest Harris 3 Gb/s-ready broadcast solutions — including the X50™ synchronizer and converter and Videotek® Compact Monitor Series — to outfit a new HD production truck the media services company is building in partnership with Yankees Entertainment and Sports (YES) Network.

Scheduled to hit the road in February 2010, the 40-foot Metrovision HD-2 truck, equipped with a 31-foot expando and a Ku-band satellite dish, will be the nation's largest hybrid production/Ku mobile unit.  Metrovision HD-2 will be used to produce HD programming for all of YES Network’s college football and basketball and Yankees’ pre- and post-game shows, as well as other events such as the NCAA Basketball Tournament and Super Bowl XLIV.   • Videotek Compact Monitor Series, which provides testing of signal integrity across all DTV broadcast formats up to 3 Gb/s in a half-rack, energy-saving design
  • A 15RU Platinum™ video router with integrated CENTRIO™ multiviewer, which provides a lower-cost monitoring solution, simpler system design and a more efficient use of space
  • A 9RU Platinum audio router with TDM architecture, which enables discrete AES, discrete analog and embedded audio to be processed within the same frame — further simplifying integration
