[SatNews] Vizada has been selected by ARINC to help fulfill a Department of Defense contract for international broadband services. The managed services agreement highlights the strong and expanding relationship between Vizada and ARINC, which has moved beyond mobile satellite services (MSS)/L-band services and into fixed service satellite (FSS) broadband services, as well as the continued need by the military for strategic use of commercial satellite services.


“As a large independent provider of satellite services, we were confident that Vizada would be able to quickly develop, maintain and support a broadband network with a high level of service availability that our customer requires,” said Pat de Barros, Director, Systems Engineering & Support Services, ARINC. “When it comes to serving the military market, ARINC needs partners like Vizada that we can count on to operate as a seamless extension of our ARINC Global Network (AGN).”


Vizada will manage and host an international broadband network for ARINC and its customer that provides global access through the iDirect Ku-band managed services network. Vizada will also provide the 24/7/365 service and support required by the customer and ARINC. This event marks the expansion of this relationship into FSS services. In December, 2009, the companies also announced they will provide Inmarsat Aero H+, Aero I, Aero L packet data services, and Aero H+ voice services over Inmarsat’s I-4 satellite network, as well as over the previous generation Inmarsat I-3 satellites.
