Breaking Ground For Taurus II Facilities


Taurus II's 7th launch (Orbital) Orbital Sciences Corporation (NYSE:ORB), in conjunction with the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport, will hold a Ground Breaking Ceremony on June 29, 2009, at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility.

The event will commemorate the official beginning of construction on launch facilities for the company’s Taurus II space launch vehicle and its related work for NASA’s Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) program. Official remarks begin at 10:15.a.m. with Senator Barbara Mikulski – State of Maryland, David W. Smith - Assistant Secretary of Commerce and Transportation, State of Virginia, Chairman and CEO David W. Thompson – Orbital Sciences Corporation, Robert D. Strain – Center Director, Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA with Chairman Vincent Boles – Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport. Orbital develops and manufactures small- and medium-class rockets and space systems for commercial, military and civil government customers.
