  • Globecomm Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: GCOM) has launched Cachendo, an information technology (IT) professional services company providing integrated, end-to-end technology services, from strategy through implementation. This new, wholly-owned subsidiary will offer a wide variety of services, including advisory services, consulting services, and information engineering. As part of Globecomm, Cachendo will offer expert guidance on complex IT projects. The mission is to deliver these services by contracting skilled talent to organizations with complex technology challenges. Cachendo will function as its own legal entity in order to segment and highlight its capabilities and offerings to client organizations. Globecomm Systems formed its new brand to further expand the breadth of capabilities currently supporting many existing mission-critical projects for Globecomm.

  • MEASAT-3 satellite (150) MEASAT Satellite Systems Sdn Bhd (MEASAT) has an agreement with ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) to lease transponder services on the MEASAT-3 satellite for contribution feeds for special events in the Asian region. ESS, a joint venture between two of the world’s leading cable and satellite broadcasters — Walt Disney (ESPN, Inc.) and News Corporation Limited (STAR) — provides premier live sports from around the globe, 24 hours a day. Operating 17 branded networks across Asia, ESS transmits in four different languages to a cumulative reach of more than 310 million.

  • Nagravision has been selected by China Satellite Mobile Broadcast Limited (CSM), a company held under the Administrative Bureau of China's State Administration of Radio, Film, and TV (SARFT), as the conditional access provider for a nationwide Mobile TV service that was launched in time for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. For the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, major province capitals and six Olympic sites were covered by the signal. The Mobile TV service is available on a range of devices including handsets, portable media players and computers. In the first months of the project, Nagravision is deploying a national conditional access system as well as 35 regional systems. This installed base is set to further evolve up to 338 systems by 2010.
