[SatNews] This new appointment is to assist the firm as it charts new SATCOM territory for itself.
Codan Limited (ASX:CDA) has elected to move towards a United States centric model to ensure the ongoing success of its Satellite Communications Business, which is comprised of Codan and Locus Microwave branded products. "A key part of this new plan revolves around Business Unit leadership and in particular, the appointment of a US based executive to lead Codan Satcom," said Donald McGurk, CEO and Managing Director, Codan Limited. "As a result, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Bob Carpenter to the position of Divisional President, Satellite Communications." Mr. McGurk said the company will continue to integrate the SATCOM business in the coming months with respect to sales and marketing, engineering, some manufacturing and business leadership. Bob Carpenter will commence with Codan on Monday, March 14, 2011, and will be based at Codan SATCOM’s U.S. Headquarters in State College, Pennsylvania. Mr. Carpenter joins Codan from Elbit’s C4i business in Washington, where he has worked since 2004 and held senior roles in sales and marketing and business development. Mr. Carpenter will assume global responsibility for the Satellite Communications business and will be a full member of Codan Limited’s Executive Management Team. "Bob will be present at the Satellite 2011 tradeshow in Washington DC and is looking forward to meeting industry colleagues and customers," said Mr. McGurk.
Codan Limited is based in Adelaide, Australia, and designs and manufactures a diversified product range for the international HF radio, satellite RF subsystem, and metal detection markets. More than 80 percent of the company's annual revenue of $150+ million is derived from export markets. Codan, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2009, has more than 20,000 C‐band Ku‐band RF subsystems installed and operating reliably in the world's harshest and most remote environments. Codan recently acquired U.S.‐based Locus Microwave—a microwave technology company who specialises in X‐band products for military and government purposes.
