...NovelSat’s NS3™ satellite modulation technology to distribute news and sports content within its global network. The EBU is using NovelSat’s NS3-powered NS1000 and NS2000 satellite modulators and demodulators to improve bandwidth efficiency and drive down costs. The deployment of NovelSat satellite modulation technology enables the EBU to reduce costs while increasing bandwidth availability and improving fade margins. The NovelSat equipment will be used in the transmission of live pictures of several major 2012 sporting events, including broadcast feeds covering Formula 1, the London Olympics and the UEFA Euro 2012 football championship.
Also announced by NovelSat is Avanti Communications, the satellite operator, has launched the world’s first commercial Ka-band, International IP Trunking proposition for Africa and the Middle East.
Market-changing increases in spectral efficiency are driven through combining Avanti’s Ka-band technology with NovelSat’s latest NS3 proprietary modulation scheme. The result is an increase in spectral efficiency of up to 5bits/HZ, observed in trials completed in early May on Avanti’s Ka-band HYLAS 1 satellite. The new service will be capable of delivering high capacity bi-directional data links of up to 365Mbps between transmit and receive sites, using the most advanced NovelSat modulator and demodulator.
