DISA's Global Content Delivery Service (GCDS) launched a new cost structure along with a redesigned website that further improves the communication of its GCDS cloud services to the Department of Defense (DoD). The new fiscal year 2012 pricing is a one-time fee with no recurring monthly costs. Enhancements to the website include a new layout for easier browsing of GCDS solutions (Web Application Delivery, NetStorage, HD Streaming), a high-level description of how each solution works, a quick look into the GCDS customer portal, GCDS customer case studies, and the new simplified cost structure information.
Mission partners who use the Defense Information System Network (DISN) today — to download the latest security patches, check webmail on Defense Knowledge Online/Army Knowledge Online (AKO), view information on AKO/Navy Knowledge Online (NKO)/Global Combat Support System-Air Force (GCSS-AF) portals, support decision making on National Senior Leadership Decision Support System (NSLDSS), or analyze geospatial data dynamically on multiple National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) systems — are using GCDS without even realizing it.
GCDS leverages proven technology and best practices to accelerate the delivery of Department of Defense (DoD) Web content and applications across the Unclassified but Sensitive Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNet) and Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNet). DISA provides GCDS as a fully managed joint enterprise service to the DoD.
Use of the GCDS service can provide numerous benefits, including cost savings, efficiency improvements, and sustainability. Rather than building and maintaining their own distributed infrastructure, users can take advantage of a fully operational, highly distributed, and scalable service to maximize efficiency, lower overall operating costs, and drastically improve end-user performance.
