Spacenet Integrated Government Solutions . . . Moving On Up

[SatNews] Spacenet Integrated Government Solutions (SIGS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Spacenet Inc., today announced that Robert Turner has joined the company as Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Marketing. In his new role, Turner will oversee initiatives which will support the long term growth and strategic planning of SIGS.

SIGS is focused on designing and delivering standards-based, secure, reliable and interoperable communications and end-to-end management solutions to meet the unique mission-critical requirements of the Department of Defense, Homeland Security, the Intelligence Community and other government agencies.

"We are very pleased to welcome Robert to Spacenet Integrated Government Solutions.  His extensive experience working with government customers and satellite technology is the perfect mix to help us bring new solutions to this market," said SIGS CEO Susan Miller. "We have been expanding our offering in the government market to help meet some of the most demanding communications requirements and support critical government networks. The addition of Robert to the team will enable SIGS to build on this momentum and develop long term strategies to ensure its success.”

Turner has more than 20 years of experience with a broad background in government sales and marketing, including extensive experience working with government agencies and government contractors on telecommunications and satellite-based projects.

Prior to joining SIGS, Turner held management positions with Comtech EF Data, SES New Skies, Equant, Global One and Sprint. While at Equant and Global One, Turner led both companies' US-based government sales organizations, where he focused primarily on addressing the international communications needs of federal, state, and local government agencies; multilateral organizations; and systems integrators.

During his tenure at Sprint, he was director of sales, civilian agencies and counter-intelligence programs and led teams that secured federal and state-level government business valued at over $1 billion. Turner holds an MBA from the University of Maryland University College and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, College Park.

“This is a very exciting time to be in the government satellite market.  Comms-On-The-Move (COTM) is one of the many application areas we see poised for rapid growth, and SIGS is well positioned to meet the mobile satellite requirements of government agencies,” said Turner. “I am thrilled to be joining the SIGS team. I believe we are entering the market in the right place at the right time with the right combination of capabilities and solutions to help increase mission assurance, support the respective mission goals and objectives of government agencies, and to help them overcome their operational challenges and manage budget constraints associated with today’s economic realities.”
