[SatBroadcasting(tm)] Romantis GmbH, a European provider of satellite capacity, hardware, and respective support services, has partnered with the Russian Satellite Communications Company (RSCC), the Russian state satellite operator, and the Videopiù-Link group, the Italian market leader for permanent and occasional contribution services.
This partnership will find a new, interactive, multimedia network deployed through the high-power Ku-band payload of the Express-AM44 satellite at 11 degrees West. The joint solution comprises a digital DVB-S2 multiplexing platform (Mux) with a wide coverage over the most part of Europe and supports a variety of applications, including standard definition (SD) and high-definition (HD) distribution. In addition, with the help of this multimedia network news agencies and SNG operators are able to transmit broadcasts of special events in HD format, and in the long term – in 3D. Television organizations can deliver their content to this 1+1 Mux 24 hours a day, seven days a week via the teleport located in the city of Lucca (Italy) that is directly connected by fiber optics to the leading national and international telecommunication operators’ networks.
