Stratos Global has announced the commercial availability of its new StratosTrax tracking portal. StratosTrax features fully integrated GPS and geofencing capabilities for web-based location, identification and tracking of users. StratosTrax is ideally suited to help customers manage mobile resources anywhere in the world. Stratos experts will provide demonstrations of StratosTrax at the Stratos Channel Partner Conference, November 8th, in Barcelona. The new StratosTrax solution is both device and medium agnostic, supporting satellite, GSM, 3G and radio devices. The new portal now supports a wide range of mobile devices, including Inmarsat Global Satellite Phone Services (GSPS), Blackberry units, Iridium Extreme and Iridium Short Burst Data units. In the coming months, Stratos expects to announce StratosTrax support for additional devices, including iPhone, IsatData Pro, Inmarsat BGAN, Inmarsat FleetBroadband DTS and Inmarsat C services.
StratosTrax features an intuitive, user-friendly interface that integrates Google mapping views in Map, Satellite, Hybrid and Terrain options. All devices can be viewed on a single map. The portal also features a breadcrumb function that enables users to quickly trace their trail, with tracking-update intervals programmable from 15 seconds to one week. The portal easily integrates with mobile devices in less than five minutes.
The Company has also extended its contract to provide Suncor Energy with a high-speed satellite link connecting Suncor’s Newfoundland operated offshore and shore-based facilities. Under the terms of the five-year contract extension, Stratos is providing Suncor with a dedicated, 1MB Single Channel Per Carrier (SCPC) satellite link between Suncor’s Newfoundland shore-based facilities and the Terra Nova floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) facility, which is located 217 miles offshore. The link uses Telesat’s Anik C-band satellite infrastructure. Stratos has been providing Suncor with SCPC satellite services since 2002. In addition to the satellite link and earth-station services, Stratos’ comprehensive solution for Suncor includes 24/7 corrective and preventative maintenance services and hardware-support activities.
