Inmarsat, Intelsat, SES + ManSat Bring the SDA To Fruition


ManSat, based in the Isle of Man, is going to be working with Inmarsat, Intelsat, and SES as the administrator of a new organization — the Space Data Association (SDA). Formed by the aforementioned satellite operators, the SDA will be dedicated to space environment preservation as well as working on flight safety and data sharing of critical flight ops data to support all forms of satellite operations. A non-profit organization, the SDA is open to all satellite operators and others with an interest in the satellite industry. Key data will be shared with members through the data center to be run by ManSat. The expected operational start date will be in 2010. The first directors have been named: Ruy Pinto of Inmarsat and Tobias Nassif of Intelsat and Stewart Sanders of SES.
