Hughes Network Systems, LLC (HUGHES) will provide the high-availability VPN service to E&E Enterprises Global as a subcontractor, using its nationwide HughesNet broadband satellite service. The contract award is valued at $12 million and is for a term of one year, with three one-year options. Under the terms of the agreement, E&E Enterprises Global and Hughes will provide a turn-key commercial, off-the-shelf (COTS) managed terrestrial and satellite broadband network solution. In doing so, E&E Enterprises Global and Hughes will ensure the continuity of vital DeCA business functions such as point of sales (POS); debit and credit card transaction authorizations; “just-in-time” product ordering; shipping; receiving; invoicing and billing; email; as well as payroll and personnel management in commissaries worldwide, including:
- 174 commissaries located in the Continental United States (CONUS)
- 86 commissaries located Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS)
- 10 Central Distribution Centers OCONUS
DeCA anticipates extending the managed broadband service to all CONUS/OCONUS locations. As part of this turn-key solution, E&E Enterprises Global and Hughes will provide all COTS equipment and services as necessary to install and implement a complete and operable broadband solution. The companies are providing all broadband technologies. Specifically, Hughes will provide HughesNet® High-Availability VPN service, a managed service that features Hughes broadband satellite technology; Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) services that include Asynchronous DSL (ADSL), Symmetric DSL (SDSL), and Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) DSL (IDSL); and all other appropriate digital cable technologies. E&E Enterprises Global will all provide remaining coverage.
