The Chinese Shenzhou-7 (Sacred Vessel) astronauts have landed back on earth, safely, but somewhat shaken up, thanks to the land-based bouncing their capsule received. They completed a 68-hour trip that included a space walk and are being hailed by Chinese leaders as heroes. The capsule parachuted into northern Inner Mongolia around dusk and Chinese doctors were on the scene immediately to check on the astronauts condition. Upon exiting from Shenzhou,
Zhia Zhigang received a bouquet of flowers and sound applause, whereupon he stated he was "proud of his motherland" and must have been well aware that his Chinese-manufactured spacewalk spacesuit cost $4.4 million to construct. The astronauts can continue to cement their friendship, as they will now be quarantined for about 15 days to ensure they are free of any space contaminants.
