NAB... Net Insight: Cup Collusion (SatBroadcasting™)

Net Insight has been selected by nine global media operators and major rights holder, including ESPN, to deliver live HD and 3D broadcasts of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, when upgrading their networks with the Nimbra platform to deliver live video coverage and data services at 100 percent QoS to the 1.5 billion viewers expected to tune-in across the globe. For the first time, the entire four week event will be broadcast to more than 130 countries.

To support this scale of broadcast, operators require a solution that allows them to produce, distribute and deliver the premium content consumers demand. With the highest quality transport with 97 percent utilization the Nimbra provides the most efficient solution for converged video, voice and data for next generation networks. In addition to transporting hundreds of hours of live HD coverage, Net Insight will also transport ESPN’s 3D broadcast. The broadcaster plans to cover up to 25 games in 3D, a first for the sports network.

Net Insight’s Nimbra platform offers advanced multimedia services in media networks with integrated video and audio interfaces such as ASI, SDI, HD-SDI, 3G-SDI, AES/EBU with native support for IP/Ethernet and SDH/Sonet. With the highest network utilization, multicasting of all types of services, guaranteed quality of service and the possibility of extending the network entirely in pace with customer growth, the Nimbra platform offers the most efficient, reliable and cost-effective network solution available today. Net Insight will be demo'ing its transport capabilities for 3D and 4K broadcasts at booth SU3323 at NAB 2010.
