The event is an important yearly forum for politicians and business leaders from APEC member economies who account for approximately 40 percent of the world’s population, 54 percent of world GDP, and about 44 percent of world trade. MediaCorp is the Host Broadcaster for APEC 2009 and will build the International Broadcast Centre, which will include the operation of broadcast quality cameras, a live video and audio feed distribution system, and a master control room. MediaCorp’s expertise in broadcast production and technology will enable broadcasters to high quality pool feeds and with a short turnaround time. At APEC Singapore 2009, in addition to providing pool feeds, MediaCorp will also be providing ad-hoc production services such as video dubbing and conversion services as well as editing suites.
MediaCorp, together with GlobeCast and AP, will provide transmission services and facilities to international broadcasters covering the gathering of the leaders of 21 member economies. Facilities include fully manned live standup positions within the International Media Centre and multi-format tape playout facilities. Through this collaboration, broadcasters can tap into GlobeCast’s and AP’s global fibre and satellite network for international satellite delivery and turnaround on AsiaSat, Eutelsat and Intelsat satellites for Asia, Europe and the Americas via GlobeCast’s points of presence (PoP) in Culver City, Los Angeles, and AP in New York and Washington DC. Additionally, GlobeCast will extend its worldwide reach to Africa via Johannesburg.
