AWARD WINNER — EMS Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ELMG) announced Theresa Brunasso, principal engineer and director of Technology Development in EMS Defense & Space Systems (D&SS), was one of three women in Georgia honored by Women in Technology (WIT) as a winner in the ninth annual Women of the Year in Technology Awards presented by Grant Thornton. The 2008 awards recognize and celebrate the winners as “Women of Impact” for their accomplishments as leaders in business, as visionaries of technology, and as women who make a difference in their communities. The winners were announced at the annual Women of the Year in Technology awards gala at the Cobb Galleria on September 18th.
- MOVING ON UP — OmniGlobe Networks, Inc. has appointed Robert Bouchard to its Board of Directors. Mr. Bouchard was elected Non Executive Director in August of this year. As Executive Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Bell Canada International Inc., Robert Bouchard was responsible for the operational performance of BCI’s worldwide investments and overall corporate performance. He was instrumental in growing the cellular user base in South Korea (with Hansol PCS) and Taiwan (with KGT Telecom), from zero users to 2.5 million subscribers in two years. Robert enjoyed similar success in Colombia, Brazil, and Mexico, and successfully negotiated the sale of BCI’s shares in Telecom Americas to America Movil, one of the largest corporations in Latin America.
- SATCOM SYSTEM — Orbit Technology Group has revealed another milestone for its Marine Mobile Satellite Communication System — the OrSat. Having successfully completed a rigorous field test onboard a ship that traveled from a north western European port, through the Mediterranean Sea, Suez Canal, Indian Ocean and up to Yokohama, Japan — and then back, OrSat demonstrated flawless connectivity throughout the voyage, with seamless roaming between satellites on the rout. The OrSat is now ready for use as a Global-Ku Satcom system, the only antenna system in the world that has been fully tested on the global rout and also Type-Approved by all satellite companies that cover this route.
- SYSTEM ENHANCEMENT — Stratos Global Corporation has now made available their AmosConnect Anti-Virus, which is the latest addition to its AmosConnect from Stratos maritime satellite communications service. AmosConnect from Stratos integrates vessel and shore-based office applications, is easy-to-use and highly sophisticated email service that seamlessly integrates email, fax, telex, GSM text, interoffice communication, and access for mobile personnel into a single messaging system. The service is designed for use with Inmarsat systems, as well as with Iridium data and Iridium RUDICS systems.

BUSINESS + MOVING ON UP — Xiplink has announced the expansion of its operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Xiplink has established its EMEA headquarters in London and named Peter Slade as Vice President and Managing Director, to lead the company's growth throughout the region. Slade is a 20-year data communications networking veteran whose most recent post was Vice President and General Manager for iDirect Technology, EMEA. There, Slade was responsible for the region's remarkable growth from an almost standing start to a $50m/annum sales and support operation within five years. Newly reporting to Slade will be Mr. Leslie Ensor-Dean as Senior Systems Engineer for the EMEA region, and he'll be responsible for all technical issues in the region, with a focus on pre-sales activities to enlarge the Company's customer base.
XipLink has also signed an agreement to acquire certain intellectual and capital assets of Pretoria, South Africa based Trispen Technologies, their long-time partner in providing Security Software for Wireless Network Optimization. The agreement also covers the transfer of Trispen personnel into the newly formed entity, XipLink (Pty) Limited. All material terms in the transaction have been agreed while the acquisition awaits South African Regulatory Approval. Trispen CEO Jaco Botha will become CTO of XipLink, Inc.
