SatBroadcasting: Satlynx To Satisfy Media Streaming Needs

SatLynx Media Streaming page Satlynx, a GE company and a provider of satellite telecommunications, has announced the enhancement of its media streaming solution with wider availability across Europe, a range of pricing options, and increased bandwidths in response to customer demand. Satlynx Media Streaming is a transportable video and audio platform designed to address the growing market for capturing live events for further distribution online and on air. The platform comprises equipment that can be installed into and on almost any vehicle, plus a flexible and cost effective service. Using affordable technology found in many digital SNG services, Satlynx Media Streaming now offers a wider availability across Europe, pricing options from per minute, per hour or per day tariffs to monthly packages and bandwidth options from 128Kbps to 4Mbps.

Primarily aimed at online media, as well as radio and TV stations in need of “light” news gathering, the service can uplink video and audio while supporting access to a contended downlink channel for production applications such as email, web browsing and coordination VoIP, giving the remote-site crew flexibility beyond the core application of streaming media. The services Satlynx offers represent innovative steps to reducing the cost of news gathering and in opening the market from traditional Occasional Use (OU) to direct presentation on the web.
