[SatNews] Wavestream Corporation has introduced the PowerStream(tm) 757C-o, a rugged, outdoor 600W C-band solid state power amplifier for broadcast satellite communications systems. The new PowerStream 757C-o is a complementary product to Wavestream’s recently announced indoor unit, and addresses the emerging requirement for high power outdoor C-band solid state amplifiers and block upconverters for the broadcast market.
Cliff Cooke, president and chief
executive officer of Wavestream, said, “The new PowerStream 757C-o replaces aging, less efficient
amplifiers with next generation solid state technology. Our new outdoor, antenna-mount product provides the same RF characteristics, efficiency and field-proven reliability as our indoor units. The added bonus is an outdoor configuration reduces the indoor space requirements and higher energy consumption costs that are often associated with housing and cooling traditional indoor amplifier products.”
The PowerStream 757C-o is based on Wavestream’s nexgen Spatial Power Advantage™ technology to achieve high power in more compact packages. In a redundant configuration, the PowerStream 757C-o offers significantly less power draw, and greater
efficiency and long-term reliability when compared to traditional tube-based amplifiers. For operators, this translates directly into reduced energy and lifecycle maintenance costs. The PowerStream 757C-o is ruggedized to withstand harsh environments, and can be mounted close to the antenna feed to reduce waveguide loss. The unit is easily controlled from a Redundancy Controller or an operator’s computer, providing convenient, indoor desktop access to power, temperature and status information. The PowerStream 757C-o will be available in the
third quarter of 2010.
