[SatBroadcasting(tm)]Encompass Digital Media, Inc. joined forces with the U.S. military’s Defense Video and Imagery Distribution System (DVIDS) for the first, HD satellite feed from Camp Leatherneck, Afghanistan.
Encompass’ partnership with DVIDS resulted in the delivery of video coverage from deployed U.S. service members enjoying Sunday’s big game. Live footage aired on Fox’s exclusive broadcast of Super Bowl XLV held on February 6th at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX. “The close collaboration between the DVIDS hub at Encompass Atlanta and military public affairs units in the field has taken us to a new level of quality,” said Rich Steele, project manager for DVIDS. “Our added HD capability is another enhancement as we fulfill our mission to provide a timely, accurate and reliable connection between the American people and their troops.” Since 2004, Encompass has been an essential partner for DVIDS’ media operations. As a result, the military has been able to leverage the most advanced video streaming and satellite transport technologies to produce broadcast-quality video, still images and print materials. These packaged products are made available for real-time distribution 24/7/365 via Encompass’ satellite and fiber infrastructure.
