Goals Streamed By SatStream (SatBroadcasting)
SatStream has announced the successful streaming of three Manchester City matches, which were part of the Vodacom challenge, a pre-season football event now in its tenth year, hosted in South Africa.
SatStream was asked by Endemol Sport to stream the three matches, following a cross-media partnership between Endemol Sport and the football club. The match was beamed live over satellite, received in London, then encoded into high-quality Flash and distributed over specialised networks to the Web. Viewers could access the player via the MCFC Website. Jim Harrison, Head of Digital Broadcast at Endemol Sport, commented, “We were very impressed with the service provided by SatStream. We strive to bring a creative and innovative approach and SatStream has enabled us to further that by enhancing our offering with this quality streaming service.” SatStream is Europe's largest bespoke broadcast-standards facility specifically designed for content acquisition from satellite and broadcast by streaming via the Internet. The SatStream Live Encoding Facility, based just south of the Thames in Central London, was custom-designed and built in 2007 by a team of broadcast specialists.
