  • VideoBRIDGE Bridge Technologies and TANDBERG Television have partnered to market the series of IP-Probes for IPTV monitoring. The VideoBRIDGE/nCompass system provides a comprehensive set of tools and features including full alarm and event handling, settings backup, and MDI MEDIA WINDOW, all from within nCompass. In addition, MDI threshold settings and element management are directly controllable from within the nCompass application.TANDBERG Television will supply VideoBRIDGE installations to broadcasters, telcos, and network operators worldwide, providing the most advanced end-to-end monitoring solution available in the industry.

  • WFN Crawford Satellite Services, a service area of Crawford Communications, Inc. and a broadcast facility in the Southeast, launches two additional high definition feeds for MavTV and (WFN). Using MPEG-4 technology, Crawford transmits each one to AMC-10, SES AMERICOM’s HD-PRIME® cable neighborhood, then provides uplink, encoding and space segment for both channels, while additional services for MavTV HD include origination and playback. Broadcast in 1080i, these networks are available on multiple platforms.

  • Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS) has named Maj. Gen. (Retired) Dennis C. Moran Vice President of Government Business Development for its RF Communications business. In his new role, Gen. Moran is responsible for expanding opportunities for Harris with the U.S. Department of Defense and government customers around the world. Gen. Moran previously was Vice President/Senior Executive Account Manager for Harris Government Communications Systems. He brings more than 31 years of experience in providing leadership and focus to complex information technology projects. He has an extensive background in program management from his work with the Department of Defense, where he specialized in wide area networks, integration, operations, and management functions. Gen. Moran also has experience in financial management, technical leadership, systems integration and innovation, as well as human resource management.

  • TerreStar Corporation (NASDAQ:TSTR) has sold its remaining 29,926,074 shares of non-voting common stock of SkyTerra Communications, Inc. (OTCBB:SKYT) for a total of approximately $123 million in a series of transactions. The proceeds of the sales will be used for working capital and general corporate purposes and are expected to meet TerreStar’s capital needs into 2010. Affiliates of Harbinger Capital Management purchased 23,626,074 shares for proceeds of approximately $97 million, and the remaining 6,300,000 shares were sold to other purchasers for net proceeds of approximately $26 million. A portion of the shares sold to Harbinger will be delivered to a collateral agent pending receipt of FCC approval of Harbinger’s pending application to assume control of SkyTerra, but the purchase price has been paid in full.
