Greybeards — Three-Star Officers From DoD Share Perspectives at SATCON

Millennium Hotel NY The Greybeards Speak: Perspectives on SATCOM from ’s Retired Leaders “If I could do that over again” will be a major theme of discussion at SATCON, October 14-15, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center New York, New York when a panel of recently-retired military leaders share their perspectives about the past, present, and future of national security space systems. Millennium Broadway Hotel is the official hotel for the event.

Before their retirement, each of these three-star officers was at the very heart of decision-making about the nation’s use of satellite capacity in both peacetime and war. Coupling that extensive experience with their current private industry occupations, these “greybeards” will provide deep insight into the business, financial, and operational considerations that commercial firms balance in addressing military demands for information access.

The panel will be moderated by Rebecca Cowen-Hirsch, President of Inmarsat Government Services Inc. Until her retirement last year, Cowen-Hirsch was the official charged with acquisition of commercial satellite capacity within the DoD.

Greybeard Speakers include: VADM Lyle Bien (ret) United States Navy; Lt. Gen. Robert M. Shea (ret) United States Marine Corps; Lt. Gen. William J. Donahue (ret) United States Air Force; and LTG Steven Boutelle (ret) United States Army.

Attend this panel at SATCON 2009 and hear what these former military leaders have to say about military space from the armchair of the “Monday-morning quarterback.” Click here for registration details..
