Bummer...U.S. Weather Satellite Used For East Coast Hurricanes Is Busted

[SatNews] Hope there aren’t any severe east coast weather events that occur now, because there is a problem...

A U.S weather satellite responsible for tracking both Atlantic and East Coast hurricanes is broken. The $500 million satellite, launched in 2006, was dedicated to weather monitoring in 2010, however, now, it isn’t performing its job.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) representative Scott Smullen indicated that on Sunday engineers determined that the East Coast satellite would be shut down due to vibrations of an unknown nature.

Because of the malfunction, and lack of weather information, the meteorologists are relying upon a spare European satellite from a to ‘fill in the blanks’ .
