Poland Obtains Full Participation In EUMETSAT


EUMETSAT + Poland meeting photo Mr. Stanisław Gawłowski, Secretary of State of the Ministry of the Environment, and Prof. Mieczysław Ostojski, Director-General of Poland’s Institute of Meteorology and Water Management, met a EUMETSAT delegation led by the organization’s Director-General, Dr. Lars Prahm.

Poland will now become a full Member State of EUMETSAT in 2009, after having been a Cooperating State since January 2000. Poland will be the largest Cooperating State to become a EUMETSAT member. As a Member State, Poland will participate fully in EUMETSAT’s decision-making process, will have unlimited access to all EUMETSAT data and products for official duty use, and its industry will be able to bid for contracts. Poland will participate in all EUMETSAT mandatory programs. The Polish delegation received presentations on EUMETSAT, its programmes and applications and also toured the EUMETSAT Control Centre.
