NetHope + GVF... Verily, VSAT Offers HOPE (Event)

[SatNews] NetHope is opening their three day instructor-led GVF VSAT installation class for general enrollment.

This is an instructor-led class in advanced VSAT terminal installation. It includes the Hands On Skills Test, a requirement for all GVF VSAT installer certifications, as well as substantial supplementary training supported by iDirect, Eutelsat, SkyLogic, and Intelsat. The three day class is being coordinated by NetHope in cooperation with the GVF and the African eDevelopment Resource Centre.

The class includes instruction on site survey and preparation, calculating, measuring and working with a clear line of sight, local oscillators and translation, and continues on to equipment assembly, configuration and parameters, grounding and lightning protection. The students will bring up a carrier using a spectrum analyzer, and go through the commissioning process with the satellite operator. Students will continue with a practice for the HOST, then complete the formal HOST exam for GVF certification. Additionally, students will complete an iDirect classroom session, with hands-on iSite practice and terminal installation and commissioning on the Intelsat 902 satellite. Finally, the students will complete a ViaSat LinkStar classroom session that includes terminal configuration, installation, and commissioning on the Eutelsat W3A satellite.
  • Class dates and location: September 28-30, 2010 in Nairobi, Kenya
  • Class Fee: $800 (subject to Andrew Werth Scholarship discount if applicable)
