Inmarsat... An Honorable Happening? (Award)


[SatNews] FleetBroadband 505 Emergency Calling has been shortlisted for an the Lloyd's List Global Award in the innovation category.

The short code dialling facility will be judged against five other products or services on the shortlist, with the winner announced at the Dorchester Hotel in London on September 29th. The Lloyd's List Global Awards provide a unique forum for all sectors of the maritime industry and its leading players to honor excellence and outstanding achievement. Peter Blackhurst, Inmarsat's head of maritime safety services, said: "I am delighted to see that once again the 505 emergency calling service's potential for lifesaving is recognized. To date, there have been more than 100 bona fide calls to the various Maritime Rescue Coordination Centres (MRCCs), many of which have been seafarers calling for medical advice and assistance."
