SkyVision Is Hub Happy With iDirect

VT iDirect, Inc. (iDirect), a company of VT Systems Inc (VT Systems), has announced that SkyVision has purchased an iDirect Series 15000 Universal Satellite Hub to launch an Evolution network covering 100 percent of Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and parts of Asia with a single C-band satellite beam.

iDirect products page This nexgen satellite IP service, based on DVB-S2 with Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM), will enable SkyVision to dedicate additional bandwidth for enterprise customers seeking to connect remote offices to their headquarters on the SkyVision VPN (Virtual Private Network) service. Based on the DVB-S2 standard, iDirect’s Evolution platform delivers gains in bandwidth efficiency, allowing SkyVision to maximize capacity despite bandwidth shortages in developing regions such as Africa. iDirect’s advanced ACM feature overcomes persistent service obstacles such as rain fade, which is commonly experienced by customers in tropical regions. In addition, the Group Quality of Service (GQoS) feature built into iDirect’s platform enables SkyVision to enhance DVB-S2 efficiency gains by aggregating multiple small networks into a single, larger carrier. With ACM and GQoS, SkyVision can leverage extra bandwidth to offer higher Service Level Agreements for demanding enterprise customers who need to ensure maximum uptime for private networks and other business-critical IP applications. iDirect’s Evolution product line supports a wide range of carrier IP data rates, FEC codes and modulation types, including up to 16APSK on outbound and up to 8PSK on the inbound. Evolution includes the advanced features of the iDirect Intelligent Platform™, to help operators amplify the gains of DVB-S2, enabling satellite networks to meet demanding service level agreements and reach data speeds of up to 156 Megabits per second.
