Hiltron HMAMs It Up @ IBC2009

HMAM motorized sat antenna (Hiltron) Hiltron Communications reports a substantial upturn in broadcast business at IBC2009. "The company experienced a higher number of visitors to the booth than at IBC2008 and a much larger number of follow-on sales leads," states Hiltron Communications' Managing Director Michael Schiestl. "This was in part due to the introduction of our new HMAM motorized satellite antenna, which generated a lot of interest from satellite uplink service-providers. Demand for long-haul and DTH signal distribution capacity is increasing rapidly in response to the worldwide switch from analog to digital transmission. A large number of new DVB-T and cable projects are being planned, many requiring satellite links or head-end systems."

Hiltron Communications' new HMAM motorized satellite antenna mount is an accessibly-priced high-precision rotatable VSAT antenna mount for use in commercial satellite operations. It includes professional-grade drives for azimuth and elevation plus a high-accuracy polarisation drive and is fully compatible with our standard HACU antenna positioning system. The combined head and drive form a three-axis motorised system with 180 degrees of azimuth adjustment, 90 degrees of elevation adjustment range and fully adjustable polarisation. Azimuth movement is accomplished via an axle bearing with a drive motor and allows the entire satellite arc to be covered from any position on the planet. Elevation movement is accomplished via a jackscrew with a further drive motor. This design and the use of resolver-angle indicators ensure highly reliable and very accurate positioning far beyond the stability of commercial-grade actuator solutions. The very high rigidity of the construction ensures essentially zero backlash. Options for the Hiltron HMAM motorised antenna mount include a satellite tracking system, inclined orbit tracking, integration of parabolic reflectors according to customer preference, de-ice systems, and a choice of standard steel mounts or non-penetrating mounts.
