OTE... Xpress SAS (SATCOM)

[SatNews] OTE has secured an important agreement with Inmarsat for the provision of...

...its forthcoming Global Xpress™ services. Following an international tender involving major telecommunications providers and Earth gateways throughout Europe, OTE has been selected to establish and manage a satellite access station (SAS) for the Global Xpress service in Nemea, Greece. GX services will provide mobile users with true broadband speeds of up to 50Mbps and will be delivered via three Inmarsat-5 (I-5) satellites, launching from mid-2013.

OTE’s SAS in Nemea will be the co-prime site for landing GX traffic in the EMEA region. OTE will provide Inmarsat with operational and administrative services as well as satellite services support. In addition, OTE will also offer specialised high-speed end-to-end connectivity services at national and international level—including interconnects to Inmarsat’s other co-prime site in Fucino, Italy and to a meet-me point in Amsterdam, The Netherlands—with multiple availability and service level agreements. With this particular partnership, OTE demonstrates that in addition to traditional satellite services, it reliably supports the demanding international market of next-generation technologies (such as Ka-band) that require extremely high standards of service. In particular, this agreement ranks OTE’s Nemea site among the most important earth gateways of Europe, Middle East and Africa.
