HaiVision... Military Metadata Mining (SatBroadcasting™)

HaiVision Network Video has announced the availability of the Makito AIR(tm), a compact, ruggedized version of its commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) Makito™ technology that also includes metadata capability. Meeting stringent DO-160 specifications and with MIL-STD connectors, the Makito AIR delivers HD H.264 encoding at up to 1080p60 resolution. This new encoder is ideal for all military, homeland security, and law enforcement IP video applications requiring the highest resolution, lowest latency, and bandwidth efficiency.

In addition to supporting the core feature set of the COTS Makito (such as HD encoding performance of less than 55 millisecond), the Makito AIR also supports real-time metadata. The Makito AIR can incorporate KLV (key length value) and CoT (cursor on target) metadata into the MPEG streams according to standards set by MISB (Motion Imagery Standards Board). All of the core features available in the COTS Makito products will be available in the Makito AIR without the need to do custom hardware and firmware development for airborne applications. In addition, the KLV metadata feature will be added specifically to the Makito AIR product. The Makito AIR H.264 compression technology is available for testing immediately, and production units will be available in May. KLV support will be added through a no charge firmware upgrade expected to be available in Q3 2010.
