GS Group/General Satellite—Russian CPU Is The "Brain" (SatBroadcasting™—STB)

[SatNews] GS Group has released a new digital set-top box (STB) under its General Satellite brand for use in satellite TV networks across the globe. The unit is the Receiver GS U510 and is the first consumer electronics product built using a Russian microprocessor.

The new operating system and microelectronics will meet the requirements of the most demanding consumers and will also provide the opportunity to introduce additional services for digital TV operators. The new STB allows for the organization of channels lists as set in the user’s preferences. The STB is fully compatible with HDTV and presents multi-channel digital sound of the highest quality.

GS U510 was designed and produced according to worldwide market demands and in compliance with world standards. The new STB model will be used in the broadcasting projects of GS Group. A user-friendly GUI is similar in appearance to that of smartphones and is clear and easy to use for any user, regardless of age or technical skills. In addition, the new TV receiver has a set of simple, but fun, colorful games as well as a collection of animated screensavers.

GS U510 is a breakthrough in the development of Russian electronics. The core of GS U510 is a microprocessor produced in Russia, designed and manufactured by GS Nanotech, a micro- and nanoelectronics research and production center within GS Group holding company. Additionally, the GS U510 STB solves a broadcasting piracy problem, a key consideration for payTV operators. As soon as an attempt to illegally access content is tracked, a set of technical decisions installed within the STB will quickly “disarm” the “pirates.”
