Space Foundation... Life Enhancements (Program)

[SatNews] Products that are originally developed for space that have since been adapted to improve life on Earth is the focus of this organization's unique program.

The Space Foundation has designated hyperspectral imaging systems by Themis Vision Systems as a Certified Space Technology™. Used in a space exploration support role, hyperspectral sensors capture reflected energy from observed objects, which is then analyzed to identify attributes not otherwise visible. Working with NASA, Themis Vision Systems has radically reduced sensor size and eliminated the need for sensor or target motion. These innovations have opened a range of new diagnostic applications to include bio-medical, forensics, counter terrorism, food safety and Earth imaging markets. Themis Vision Systems joins a prominent list of companies, including Outlast Technologies Inc. and Tempur-Pedic North America, that carry the Space Foundation's Space Certification status.

Themis Vision Systems, which specializes in hyperspectral imaging systems, software, services and solutions, is also developing a future line of intelligent imaging systems and real time hyperspectral applications. Although established in 2008, it has a global network of imaging partnerships that have been developed over the past 14 years. The manufacturing and R&D facilities are located in the NASA John C. Stennis Space Center and the Stennis Commerce Park in Bay Saint Louis, Miss. The company also has a corporate office in Richmond, Va., with satellite offices in Aptos, Calif., and Paris, France.
