Pactel International... DVB-S2 Upgrade Has Hawaiian Home


[SatNews] On June 2, 2010, Pactel International successfully completed installation of a new DVB-S2 ACM system hub in Hawaii. This upgrade enabled Pactel International to extend their Internet, Voice and GSM services into the Asia-Pacific, Australia and Indonesia under C-Band, due to a growing demand in those regions.


The new DVB-S2 ACM platform runs on the Apstar-6 satellite and is based on the state-of-the-art Newtec Elevation technology, designed for the transmission and reception of IP streams over satellite at rates of up to 133 Mbit/s. in full compliance with DVB-S2 standards, the platform connects directly to Pactel’s redundant backbone in Hawaii via Gigabit Ethernet Interfaces and is, itself, in a fully redundant configuration. It can now provide both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint satellite links.
