Harris... Assisting With Anti-Narcotics Ops (Comms)

[SatNews] Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) has received approximately $11 million in delivery orders to provide...

...international partners of U.S. Southern Command and U.S. Northern Command with a range of Falcon tactical radio systems. The radios will be deployed to these partners as part of a U.S. government program for counter-narcotics and other illicit activity. The orders were received in the first quarter of Harris’ 2013 fiscal year. Harris is providing Falcon III® RF-7800S Secure Personal and RF-7800V Combat Net radios as well as Falcon II® RF-5800H High Frequency and RF-5800M Multiband radios. The radios will support collaboration and communications interoperability between U.S. and partner forces.

The orders are part of a four-year contract awarded by the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command. Under the contract, certified Harris trainers and engineers will provide operator and maintenance support throughout the regions.

The Falcon III® RF-7800S is a lightweight body-worn tactical radio that provides full-duplex voice and data communications over two kilometers and is optimized for maximum performance across highly variable environments.

The RF-7800V family covers the 30 to 108MHz frequency range and supports data rates up to 192Kbps, making it the fastest combat net radio available today. The RF-7800V also provides time-critical battle management reports while delivering simultaneous networked voice and data communications to multiple users.

The Falcon II® RF-5800H-MP provides beyond line-of-sight voice and data communications. The RF-5800H delivers continuous coverage in the 1.6 to 60MHz frequency band, enabling the warfighter to stay connected even in the harshest conditions when line-of-sight communications are not an option.

The RF-5800M-HH is an advanced multiband, multi-mission handheld radio for voice and data communications in the 30 to 512MHz frequency range.
