[SatNews] Spacecom (Tel Aviv Stock Exchange: SCC), operator of the AMOS satellite fleet, recently hosted....

....a visit by South Sudan's Minister of Telecommunications and Postal Services, Hon. Maj. Gen. Madut Biar Yel. Spacecom officials held a series of talks with the Minister on cooperation on future communications projects in South Sudan and arranged meetings with other Israeli telecom, aerospace and technology companies as well as Israeli government officials. Spacecom's AMOS-5 satellite, serving Africa from the 17 degrees East orbital position with C- and Ku-band beams, initiated commercial operations on January 25, 2012. It is slated to be a prime carrier of African satellite communications traffic in both broadcast and data services in the years to come.

Maj. Gen Madut Biar Yel said, "It is a great opportunity for my associates and me to come to Israel as guests of Spacecom to meet with leading players in the telecoms market, including Israel Minister of Communications Mr. Kachlon. As we build up our infrastructure, Israel and its industries provide ample experience of best practices which we can emulate." Moshe Kachlon, Israel's Minister of Communications, said, "The State of Israel is looking forward to working alongside the new State of South Sudan to assist in the growth of its infrastructure for the future. I believe that international cooperation on the ministerial level represents an excellent start." Spacecom's Sr. VP for Africa Sales, Eyal Copitt, said, "South Sudan is an exciting market with tremendous potential. By building relationships on the ministerial level and throughout local industry, Spacecom is enhancing its growth strategy as we move towards fulfilling our role as a multi-regional satellite operator.”
