SatCom Equipment + Training Boon For DRS
DRS Technical Services, Inc. (NYSE: DRS) has been awarded a US$15,733,333 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, firm-fixed-price contract for satellite communications equipment and training. This contract includes options which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of the contract to an estimated US$47,200,000. Work will be performed in Herndon, Virginia, and is expected to be completed by August of 2011. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured via the Federal Business Opportunities web site and the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command E-commerce website, with seven offers received. The Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, Charleston, South Carolina, is the contracting activity (N65236-08-D-5152). The Technical Services segment provides comprehensive network and information technology support and services to domestic and international users in remote, austere, and hazardous locations. The segment offers a broad range of mission-critical solutions including data distribution networks and complex telecommunications systems for data, Voice-over-Internet-Protocol (VOIP), conventional telephone, and video applications delivered over integrated satellite, terrestrial and wireless networks. Additionally, the segment develops, manufactures and provides engineering and logistics support for aircraft sustainment and fuel and water distribution management as well as integrated physical security and intrusion domestic systems for domestic and international military forces.
